If this project is to go forward, it should have an eye for aesthetics and greenery. There are plenty of examples of that all around. Landscaping our roadways should be a baseline in road building in Bakersfield. One example of this is on Gosford:

CALTRANS TRIP PROJECT FOR 24th STREET

CalTrans denies that they are building a freeway through downtown bakersfield on 24th street by ripping out homes. Their website is BAKERSFIELDFREEWAYS.US.

It is CRITICAL that people send thier comments using their written comment card which can be opened here. Comments must be submitted by July 16, 2012.

We have been informed that the only comments that they take into consideration are those written on the comment card with specific complaints. WE OPPOSE THE 24th STREET WIDENING PROJECT

Help Prevent:

  • The Destruction of historic property, significant decline in market value in Westchester and Surrounding Neighborhoods.
  • Negative Economic and Cultural Impact for Downtown Bakersfield.
  • Documented Health Issues from dust and high concentration of Air Pollution during construction: Valley Fever, Asthma, Arteriosclerosis, Respitory Infections and Cancer.
  • Persistent Noise Pollution, much more traffic than at present.
  • Safety / Crime Issues
  • Another “Panama Lane” dividing Westchester Neighborhood.
